The Valheim Lodge January meeting featured presentations from Jill Storlie and Jackie Parker, followed by a "Souper Saturday" soup potluck lunch. Key upcoming events include the February 11th Norwegian Stabbur Story program and the annual Barnelopet children's ski event on February 4th.

The March monthly meeting features Lee Grippen discussing his experiences with Norwegian exchange students. April events include a carpool to Lanesboro, the annual Flatbread Day on April 22nd, a Learn Laugh Eat recipe booklet deadline by April 15th, and the 20th Annual Ibsen Festival from April 21-23rd. Sons of Norway dues will increase starting August 2017.

Key upcoming events include a Syttende Mai Barnetoget (Children's Parade) on Wednesday, May 17, featuring hot dogs at the park, and a Syttende Mai/Homecoming Royalty Tea on Saturday, May 13, at the Heritage Center. Homecoming will take place on Saturday, June 24, with a morning bake sale, demonstrations, and a boat parade. Notable dates also include Oranda Sinclair's 90th birthday on May 12 and Janet Fossum's 90th birthday on May 12.

September 14 features a regular meeting on spirits and sheep, followed by a tour of Rock Filter Distillery. October 7 hosts a Kaffe Fest, a coffee-themed fundraiser with donations. The December 14 Christmas Party and December 16 Annual Bake Sale are upcoming social events. The newsletter also announces the upcoming implementation of simplified dues for 2018 starting January 1.

The December Christmas Party is scheduled for Thursday, December 14th, featuring a buffet meal, White Elephant gift exchange, and sing-along. The Norwegian Bake Sale, the lodge's main fundraiser, will take place on Saturday, December 16th at the Heritage Center. The current officers include Karen Fried as President and Loretta Knutson as Treasurer.
