2023 Newsletters

The December lodge meeting featured a Yulebukker guessing game, a White Elephant gift exchange, and a bake sale raising over $400. A program by Karla Brown shared family photos from Norway in 1908, and a survey revealed krumkaker as the favorite Norwegian Christmas cookie. The January meeting will include the Fødselsdagskringle recipe and feature the lodge's officers.

Community members are invited to the May 16 baking event featuring Norwegian treats. The Barnetoget parade and Maypole activities will take place on May 17, with volunteers needed for lefse service. Sons of Norway members are strongly encouraged to volunteer for the upcoming May 20 "Taste of Norway" Middag meal and food demonstrations, with sign-ups available online.

July 27th meeting in LaCrescent features a potluck supper and guest speaker Chris Hardie. June meeting will discuss the lodge's book club and Sports Medals Program. The lodge was active during Syttende Mai week with multiple community events.

Valheim Lodge's December newsletter highlights the upcoming November 28 Book Club meeting featuring "Keeping Christmas" and a December 2 monthly meeting with a Christmas party, featuring Norwegian traditions and a potluck meal. The newsletter also shares a recipe for Trøndersodd, a traditional Trøndelag dish, and reflects on past lodge activities.
