Cardamom Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 tsp Watkins Vanilla
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 3/4 tsp Watkins Cardamom
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp Watkins Nutmeg
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar (for glaze)
- 1-2 Tbsp 2% milk (for glaze)
- coarse sugar and/or edible glitter (for decoration)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy - beat in egg and vanilla.
- Combine the flour, cardamom, salt and nutmeg, add gradually to the creamed mixture.
- Divide in half and shape each portion into a ball, then flatten into a disk.
- Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1/2 hour, until firm.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll one portion of dough into 1/8 inch thickness.
- Cut with your favorite cutter - place 2" apart on a greased baking sheet.
- Bake at 325°F for 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
- Let cool for 5 min. before removing from pans to wire racks.
- Frost with glaze: Mix confectioners' sugar with 1-2 Tbs milk.
- Add coarse sugar and/or edible glitter.
