Edith's White Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup canola oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp Watkins vanilla (can also add almond or other flavors)
- 4 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cream of tarter
- 1 tsp baking soda
Instructions
- Cream sugars and butter.
- Add oil and eggs - beat well.
- Sift together flour, salt, cream of tarter, and baking soda.
- Add sifted dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Chill dough.
- Roll into balls and place on cookie sheet and press with a glass dipped in sugar.
- Bake at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
- Yield 5 dozen.
- You can decorate with colored or pearl sugar for the holidays or you can add 1/2 cup cocoa for chocolate cookies.
- Mom keeps these on hand all the time as they are the grandchildrens' favorite.
