Sandbakkels
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 medium egg
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 2 1/2 cups flour
Instructions
- Cream shortening, butter and sugar. Add egg and extract. Add the flour to make a stiff dough.
- Pinch off small amount of dough. Place in center of tin and with the thumb press dough evenly on inside of sandbakkel tin.
- Place filled tins on cookie sheet.
- Bake in moderate oven (375°F) for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool before removing from tins. To remove from tin, invert tin and tap gently.
- Clean tins with dry cloth only.
- Geneva uses butter flavored Crisco and bakes at 350°F for 15 minutes.
