Gracie's Cabbage Hot Dish

Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1 tsp onion salt
- 1 lb hamburger
- 6+ cups cabbage, cut up, divided
- 1 raw medium potato pared & coarsely shredded
- 1/2 to 1 cup milk
- 1 cup or more sharp shredded cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Melt butter in skillet with onion salt.
- Brown hamburger in this.
- Put hamburger mixture to one side, add 3 cups cabbage so it wilts (cover) then mix with hamburger.
- Add raw potato and rest of cabbage.
- Mix all & add milk.
- Cover until wilted (2-5 minutes).
- Transfer to casserole and top with cheese.
- Cover. Bake until cheese melts (about 1/2 hour).
- Can vary meat and cabbage amounts. Variation- omit potato, milk and maybe cheese. Add can of tomato soup instead. Salt & pepper to taste.
