2014 Newsletters

The January meeting features Elaine Hegg discussing her book "Death in a One-Room Country School" with soup and finger food provided by members, followed by a business meeting. The annual Norwegian Bake Sale occurred on December 14th, and the 15th Annual Barnelopet is scheduled for February 1st in Decorah. The Sons of Norway District 1 Convention is set for June 12-14, 2014, in Duluth, MN.

Monthly meetings are scheduled for March 8 and April 10. The annual Flatbread Day is on April 19 and open to the public, while Syttende Mai celebrations are planned for May 16-18. The 2014 Norwegian Language Camp runs June 9-13 and June 16-20, with scholarships available.

For May 17th, the Lodge will celebrate Syttende Mai at the Legion with a Bake Sale, demonstrations, and a boat parade. Upcoming events include a Board Meeting on June 4th, a monthly Show & Tell on June 12th, a Book Club road trip on June 17th, and a visit from Kristiana Lodge on June 28th. The Norwegian Ridge Language Camp runs June 9-13 and 16-20, with Lodge scholarships available.

July's monthly meeting featuring Howard Sherpe will occur on July 10th at the Spring Grove Legion. The July 15th Book Club meeting and July 30th Board Meeting are also upcoming. For August, members are invited to Nor-Win Lodge in Winona on the 26th for a picnic, and volunteers are needed for Meals on Wheels the week of August 4th, with Judy and Janet already committed.

Sept/October 2014 is winding down. Key upcoming events include the October 4 UFF DA FEST Bake Sale at the Heritage Center, the October 9 meeting featuring Westby Lodge guests, and the December 11 Christmas Party. The newsletter also congratulates members Morris and Geneva Tweeten on their 65th anniversary and Ragnhild St. Mary on her 100th birthday, while recognizing Lee Grippen's volunteer service.

November meeting on the 13th includes updates and an election call for Secretary and Vice President. Upcoming events include a Christmas party on the 11th, a Norwegian bake sale on the 13th, and book club meetings on the 18th and 16th.
